Sólo quería poner esta canción para que vayáis todos al minuto 5:00 y os acordéis de un anuncio. ¿Ya? Se trata de una canción infantil que habla del Arca de Noé, y es un poco como la de Un elefante se balanceaba… solo que ésta es the animals went on 2 by 2 después 3 by 3 y así sucesivamente, cada vez diciendo un animal nuevo.

¿Y por qué os cuento esto? Porque érase una vez los Heavens Gate, que sacaron un disco en 1996 llamado Planet E (por Earth). Este álbum era más o menos conceptual sobre el medio ambiente, la extinción de miles de especies al día, la contaminación del aire y el agua y básicamente lo mala que es la gente. Para cerrar el concepto, estos chavales decidieron meter una comparación con el Diluvio (Génesis, capítulos 6 a 9) en forma de tema épico de 9 minutos y pico. Para insistir todavía más en el concepto y añadir el toque ¿Dónde jugarán los niños? Que no puede faltar en un disco así, decidieron meter un coro cantando la canción del Arca.

Y queda bien.

Heavens Gate llevaban ya muchos años de carrera, desde el 87, y se les llegó a considerar los padres del power metal junto a Helloween, Running Wild, Grave Digger o Rage. Aunque su estilo cambió bastante con los años: telonearon a Wasp, pero también a Dream Theater, y su último disco, Menergy (1999) no tiene nada que ver con el power metal.

Aunque se separaron tras este último disco, ya desde mediados de los 90 el guitarrista Sascha Paeth produce los discos y colabora en las grabaciones de todos esos grupos de power metal que marcaron vuestra adolescencia (sí, lo sé): Rhapsody, Kamelot, Angra, Edguy, pero también Epica o After Forever, por ejemplo, y el resto de miembros siguen en activo como músicos de sesión para todos esos grupos. Son algo así como el equipo A…

A día de hoy, su último esfuerzo conjunto fue el supergrupo Aina, que publicó una ópera rock en 2004 con colaboraciones impresionantes (Glenn Hughes, Michael Kiske, Derek Sherinian, Candice Night…), pero con todos los temas compuestos por el núcleo central de Heavens Gate.
